The simplicity of an old kitchen wall phone, brought back for the family. Your child presses a face on the screen and Grandma answers. You decide who’s on it. We handle everything else.
Built for family & friends, one phone at a time — not a cold public sign-up.
Phones got complicated. Connection got harder. A four-year-old shouldn’t need a smartphone — and a grandparent shouldn’t be one tap away from a scam call — just to say goodnight.
FamPhone is a deliberately small idea: a dead-simple, walled-garden phone where the only thing that can happen is a call to someone who already loves the person holding it. No feeds, no apps, no strangers, no AI talking to your kid. Just the people you chose, one press away.
The phone is a dumb, friendly endpoint. Every bit of the complexity lives with us, not with you.
You tell us who your child should be able to call. We configure a phone on our workbench — numbers, names, photos, the works — and mail it to you.
Power and internet. That is the whole installation. No app, no settings, no account to configure on the phone itself. It just works.
Your child walks up, sees a button with a name, and presses it. During the call, that person’s photo fills the screen — so even a three-year-old knows exactly who they’re talking to.
A whitelist only you control. The phone can only call the people on it — and, if you like, only those people can call in. No wrong numbers, no strangers, no surprises.
Each contact has a name and a photo. The photo appears on the screen during the call. Calling is something a child does with their eyes, not by reading or remembering digits.
When Grandma can’t pick up, there’s no cold voicemail beep — just a warm, reassuring voice: “Grandma’s busy doing good in the world right now — let’s try again later.”
Want a heads-up when your child talks to someone who isn’t a parent? You can turn on per-contact notifications, recording, or summaries. It is always off by default, always your choice, and never visible on the child’s phone.
This is a proper home phone line with emergency calling tied to the address you register. We’ll always be clear about how VoIP 911 works, and make your address easy to keep current.
The phone’s only job is to connect a child to a real person who loves them. There is no AI assistant talking to your kid — by design, and not up for compromise.
The most powerful safety feature is how little this phone can do.
FamPhone is a small service for people we know, priced to cover the real cost of the phone line and our time — not to grow at all costs. Final pricing is being set with our first families.
